"Why did you get involved in your profession?"

Never really thought of being a grad student as a profession, but perhaps it is :). I decided to go to grad school because I felt like my BS in BME wasn't enough to get me beyond a tech-type job in industry. I wanted to get both a broader and deeper education and explore my future prospects a bit before "settling" down. Plus I got a great fellowship and got into HST - how could I go wrong in "avoiding" the "real-world" for just a bit longer...
