In elementary school I participated in a program called Adventures in Science, where scientists from NIST and NIH taught seminars and ran activities for young people. I realized my interest in biology through this program, and had continued success throughout my middle and high school education. In the summers after my sophomore and junior years in high school, I worked in the microfabrication facility at Massachusetts General Hospital, where I confirmed my love of bioengineering.
